What does Freedom mean to you?
Throughout summer 2025, The Met worked closely with community partners ADAB, The Proud Trust FROGS and Eagles Wing Refugees group to interrogate this very question, inspired by the 80th Anniversary of VE and VJ Day this year.
This culminated in a sharing event of three new pieces of music by local artists who had collaborated with these community groups to create work that reflects how local people feel about Freedom in 2025.
This artwork is a portrait of both a community member and a local artist,, brought together to explore and articulate what freedom means to them. The text is snippets from manifestos written by the community groups.
